'Rockstar Taste Of Chaos Tour'
Disturbed, Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Halestorm
Trent FM arena, Nottingham
Review by'Geeky' Tech Joe

This is my first gig review for Metal Gods TV and I was given a gig with a selection of bands from Halestorm to the mighty Disturbed.
The gig started with drum pounding and gut churning baselines from Halestorm, who I hadn’t previously heard so I had a pretty open mind about them, and I have to say… I wasn’t keen until the moment they had a drum solo with every member of the band on a different drum… sort of like ‘Stomp’.
They finished up with what I am guessing is their big hit as the crowd became energetic, and this to me was sadly the point the gig actually started.

Next up was Buckcherry a band I am familiar with and already have an opinion of.
Now don’t get me wrong… I know a lot of people who like these guys and are without doubt very talented and look right at home on stage… however they do not do it for me, they are just a bit old hat, what I mean by that is that you could be listening to any American 80's style rock band. So I decided it was time to get some of the free ‘Rockstar Energy Drink’ from the back of the arena to prepare myself for a long-term favourite of mine, Papa Roach.

It took longer than I thought for Papa Roach to come on stage but when they did there was a massive roar from the crowd, I hate to admit it but there were a lot of songs they played that I didn’t know were sung by them, it was an intense set though.
As the gig went on, you soon realized that the Papa Roach are not as young as they used to be and seemed exhausted towards the end… but it did not stop them playing ‘Last Resort’ at full force, to perfection!
After they finished I remembered something a friend said who saw this gig on a previous date… “Disturbed stole the show!”

The stage for Disturbed was covered in a black sheet… mysterious?
All became apparent, the sheet fell revealing a stunning visual of “The Asylum” album art… animated!
Disturbed powered on stage with their signature drumming pounding away, I was completely blown away for two reasons…

  1. I had never seen Disturbed before but always wanted to and ....
  2. The music was insane!

They played songs from new and old albums! with a few favourites of mine, ‘The Asylum’, ‘Land of Confusion’ and ‘Invincible', and they finished with ‘Down with the Sickness’.
I’m not sure how you could explain the band to someone who hasnt seen or heard them before, but a few words that come to mind are, active, loud, heavy and metal.
If you haven’t heard them before, give them a listen, especially the songs mentioned in this article!
In response to what my friend said, Disturbed really did steal the show. I hate to say it but after Disturbed played, I had completely forgot that Halestorm even played! It was quite literally 4 gigs in 1 and was hard to take in. In my honest opinion I think Halestorm and Disturbed should tour together and Buckcherry and Papa Roach should have toured together, but not all four in once!
The only 4 band that would ever work together are maybe the big 4… maybe at a festival near us soon?
