'Visions of Death'
2010
Review By Jim Suffolk
Instantly thrown into the death metal madness, I was keen to get a listen to this album.
The first 4 tracks had me fairly gripped in as I happily sat down and listened to the album but unfortunately about half way through track 5 I had to ask myself, “Is this still the same song?”
The main problem I have with this album is that you really have not got much idea which song you’re listening to unless you keep checking the track number, as the album sounded very repetitive.
Don’t get me wrong, tracks like “Mentally Mutilated, The Gates of Hell and Welcome to the Morgue” all sound very promising and if I’m honest the album is full of some pretty awesome moments.
The riffs do sound a little recycled and I’ve managed to hear a few that sound very much like early Cannibal Corpse riffs in there as well. Vocal wise its death metal, surely you know what to expect! Deep, cookie monster vocals and when you can pick out the words the lyrics seem pretty dark as well.
I’d recommend this album to anyone wanting to listen to a new and lesser known death metal band but by any means don’t expect the next death metal god of albums.
