'Light Years From Destiny'
2010
Review By Mick 'the beard' Staley

Many years ago 5 young men dreamed of being in a metal band, playing cheesey songs about dungeons, dragons swords, scorcerers and mythical creatures.
those toung boys grew up to find their dream had come true and from the flames of the dying pheonix, The Guardians of Andromeda were formed.

Now none of the above is entirely true, but it gives you some idea of what you let yourself in for with the G.O.A.

From the opening track, you are pulled into their world, but it also has a ring of familiararity about it, Maiden?, Helloween?, yes they have been ripped off but it works.

Its all performed very tongue in cheek and as The Guardians put it themselves 'as gay and cheesy' as possible, but putting that aside, you get some well delivered and constructed stuff, with every aspect of the album being very well planned to a conceptual level.

As you listen to this album you will think Judas priest, or Maiden, or Helloween and various others, but its this familiar sound, mixed with the theatrical delivery, that makes this album a compelling listen.

fans of Power Quest, Helloween, Maiden, and basically good old fashioned well executed metal will adore this.
