'Consequence of sin'
2011
Review By Chris Hill
'Consequence of Sin' is the second album release by this rock band following their debut offering, 'As the Lights Go Down', in 2009.
Whilst the overall feel of the album is of a southern rock sound there is a lot more to this band than that. The opening chords of the first song, 'So Many Lies', have a heavy feel which are vaguely reminiscent of thrash.
As the album progresses the band demonstrate a wide range of styles spanning from the NWOBHM solos in the songs, 'Long Way From Home' and 'Nowhere to Hide', then right across the spectrum to a more mainstream rock sound, such as Nickelback, in the songs, 'Find Me and Mirrors' and 'Smoke'.
That is only half of the story - the variation of styles not only occurs on a song by song basis - Nightvision effortlessly and seamlessly switch between them mid-song and whilst sitting on the fence is not normally considered to be a positive thing, in the case of Nightvision it works very well and gives a contemporary feel.
On reaching the end of the final song, 'Post Tour Blues', it dawns on you that all of the songs are constructed using this formula, being played at a moderate to fast pace with not a ballad in sight, and this factor could prove to be a bit samey in the fullness of time.
Having said that this is an eminently listenable, proficient album which should appeal to the majority of metal/rock fans.
