'New Shores'
2009
Review By Jim Suffolk

Lunatica are a symphonic metal band not that much different from Nightwish. Epic power metal music with various keyboards on top sound really cool.
I’m not a massive fan of this style of music but I don’t mind a few Nightwish songs so ill give it a shot!
New Shores” is an epic, slow intro to the album,  which got a little boring but for progressive music still an epic song.
I really liked the second track “Two Dreamers”. It could easily be a Nightwish song and just sounds really chilled and mellow. The drums sound a bit weird on this album. Maybe being a little to high in the mix but overall a song you could imagine being played with loads of lights and pyro going off onstage at midnight!
The next standout track for me was “The Chosen One”. A very chuggy song, which again sounds very, Nightwish influenced. The vocals at around 2:25mins onwards have a really cool, robotic effect on them, it blends well in the song and gives it a very mysterious feel. I am getting a little bored of sounding a little too much like Nightwish but im sure this wouldn’t be a problem for many other people.
The next 2 songs were a little forgettable to me, I couldn’t really hear any standout moments and they seemed to be there to fill up some disc space.
Farewell My Love” is an acoustic intro song, again an epic, progressive song that keeps on building up, this is a song I’ll be listening to for a few more times.
Heart Of A Lion” seemed to share the same intro as the last song. I get the impression they liked the sound of the acoustic intro and went a bit crazy and over did it, although it works it’s also a little repetitive.
I think that was the down point of the album. It sounded too samey to me. I wouldn’t have been able to name any tracks after listening to them.
It was a very relaxing and calm album that I’d recommend to any Nightwish fans and any Symphonic or Epic metal fans out there.
