'21 EP'

Review By Metal Mick 'The Beard' Staley
I didn't know what to expect when I received my copy of this EP, as last time I came across MARYA was at Hammerfest. She had the graveyard slot following WOLF at about 2.15am. i was to say the least well oiled by this time and getting more oiled with the guys from WOLF and therefore did not remember much about MARYA ROXX.
I digress, on with the EP. It opens with '21' and some serious shredding and heavy riffs, before Marya kicks in with her distinct vocals, which is a complete contrast. She has quite a gentle voice for metal music, and the lyrics are a bit cheesey. ( Kiss made thier whole career with Cheesey songs) This aside '21' has a catchy chorus though and a good beat.
Marya has a mix of punk, pop and rock with the odd shred thrown in for good measure. It's like a cross between Joan Jett and Girlschool with the odd shades of Paramore.
Marya is definately a work in progress, but she has a great foundation to build on, a unique sound in a great package.
Hopefully the next time our paths cross, I will be more with it.
MARYA ROXX is well worth checking out if you can get a copy of this EP
