'Blues+Power=Destiny'
2010
Review Mick 'the beard' Staley

Having seen these guys put on a stella performance at Hammerfest, Iwas looking forward to the new album's release.
The first thing to strike you is the great package, that gives the CD a good feel before you even play it!
After playing the album from start to finish, I have to say the guys have seemed to hit yet another level.
They still have the heavy blues influence and strong baseline that gives the distinct Pig Iron sound, but with Ben Ash now having chance to put his stamp on lead guitar, a heavier, stoner sound eminates at times, although Hugh Gilmore (bass) would argue that point with me.

It is still the familiar Pig Iron sound, but now they seem to be getting a bit more adventurous. This already has the sound of a classic album, one that you can play over and over without getting tired of hearing it. My favourite track is 'Hitch' as I love the riff and its a heavier faster sound. there are however still plenty of mellow bluesy moments for you to chill out with.
Pig Iron are a band that in my opinion should be alot bigger, but they do have an ever growing cult following that have discovered the secret of a great blues/metal band, that have one of the best live sets around.

Can't wait to catch up with them again and I suggest you do the same.
