'Evercircle'
2009
Review By Jim Suffolk
Not being the worlds biggest fan of more operatic/symphonic metal I accepted this album with an open perspective.
Right from the word go though I knew exactly what was coming. Epic keyboards, power drumming and over distorted power chords!
First song “Out Of the Shadows” is a full on Sonata Arctica style song. Very fast paced and full of widdly keyboard solos throughout.
I found the music very predictable for my liking. You can always tell exactly where it is going. There are no surprises or variations in the music and it just seems a little dated to me.
The rest of the album is a lot slower and power ballad sounding. Full on stadium filler type power metal.
The vocals sound really nice and sound really mysterious but unfortunately the music just doesn’t cut it for me, I’m just to easily bored by it and felt that the riffs all seem a little samey.
“Solomon’s Dance” sounds like a bloody R n’ B track when it starts, with full on synth line. The guitars do come in but they don’t really seem to add anything.
I’d recommend buying it if your are a fan of all the melodic, symphonic metal bands. Sonata Arctica style music, but I wouldn’t expect too many plays from it.
The rest of the album was way to predictable for my liking and could have done with a lot more variation.
