'Tight Nerves & Suavity'
2009
Review By Mick ' The beard' Staley
I don't normally wait to see a band live until I review their album, but I made an exception with these guys as I had an itch I could not scratch.
What am I going on about? Well I'm about to tell you.
When you hear the album , you can tell this band are top drawer, technically and lyrically gifted, but iy still felt like that something was missing or they were holding back.
Then you see them live and it all becomes clear, don't get me wrong, 'Tight Nerves & Suavity' is very good and a must for your CD collection, but live these guys are amazing. Thoughts of Pantera, B.O.C., B.L.S. even Sabbath and Zep spring to mind, you would think that they come from the deep south of U.S.A and not the south of the UK. This feelgood vibe and sound is not quite carried to CD.
This album shows off their technical attributes and is put together very well, but to appreciate these guys to the full, you have to see them live, as they put their heart and soul into it and they reach another level.
'Tight Nerves' will definately wet your appetite for more as it just oozes talent, they even give 'Big Fat Mama' by Quo, the southern rock treatment and make it sound like it was written for them. Sons of Merrick are our tip fo the top and 'Tight Nerves & Suavity' is one of the best debut albums to come out in years.
