'Code of Conspiricy'
2009
Review By Jim Suffolk
Try and picture in your mind a cross between Fear Factory and Divine Heresy. You expect full on riff brutality, hard vocals and some fast, groove based drums right?
If so then please listen to this album. If not, listen to it anyway!
Starting off with one of the most epic intro tracks I’ve ever heard Sub-Mission have you gripped by the balls from the second this album starts.
Second song “Rebel of Society” Is a full on Fear Factory style song. Full of chug and blast beats it screams CIRCLEPIT! The song really keeps you going and almost gives you a rush. After listening to it quite a few times it can still give you a really weird feeling.
It moves quickly onto 3rd song “Imaginary Freedom”. Again, another fast paced, circle pit song. It then drops into a true chug anthem, the perfect song to bang your head to. The riffs in this song are insane as the guitarists are obviously working their Asses off to play this stuff.
“A Terror Within” is a slightly more mid paced song. Their sound in general is getting a little bit predictable by now, but none the less it still sounds really catchy and you but can’t help but bang your head to it.
The vocals range from some really brutal style vocals to some really mellow melodic vocals. It works really well and helps it form becoming too boring.
“An Illusion Of A Perfect Forever” is, really out of place with the rest of the album.
After a few tracks and thrash chug you’re suddenly thrown into an acoustic ballad! Fair dues to them wanting to mix it up a little but was this track really necessary? It just loses all the momentum the album had and almost makes it difficult to get back into.
After this song the album to me gets a little bit forgettable. There are some amazing ideas being thrown about and some epic riffs coming out but it all seems way to samey for my liking. They may have benefited form making a mini album and putting the best songs on.
I’d highly recommend this album to any Fear Factory or Divine Heresy fans. Any fans of general chug metal should check this out as well. You won’t be disappointed but it definitely doesn’t have the life span it needs.
