'TURISAS'
Rock City Nottingham 1/10/2008
Although TURISAS were the support act for the night, supporting DRAGONFORCE, these were who we had come to see.
We interviewed the guys before the gig even though we only had ten minutes, and they came across as very likeable.
Their show was of the highest quality as TURISAS always give their all, and if you ever wanted a warm up act you could not do better as they whip the crowd up with their own brand of ‘battle metal’
Swords and drinks were raised and everyone shouted and sung along with the favourites, ‘Rasputin’, ‘Battle Metal 08’ and for the finale ‘Holmeguard and Beyond’.
We all sang Happy Birthday to their accordionist as she has just turned 18, Warlord told us. He then asked if Rock City was a Carling venue and when they shouted “NO” he said “so why are they serving this shit”. No disrespect to Carling but I had to agree as Rock City serve up the worst beer ever (warm piss) at over inflated prices, and as a venue it is not the best as the stage is too low so everyone constantly pushes and shoves to try and get a view.
TURISAS always put on a great show and never fail to get a reaction from the audience and the violin solo was awesome, stopping only to say “fuck the guitar solo”.
TURISAS are a feel good band that sings good drinking songs and battle rousing ditties; they will always be popular live.
Don’t take my word for it, check out you’re local listings and get along.
Even if you don’t like DRAGONFORCE, like us, TURISAS are worth the entrance fee alone.
