'In the face of vanity'
2011
Review By Matt Hill

Hail five rockers from Yorkshire, they are hear to tear the place up rock n roll style they are Velvet Star !
Their debut 'In The Face Of Vanity' takes no prisoners, the thundering low end bass line is in danger of inducing bowel movements, razor sharp guitars assault the depth of your inner ear and gritty vocals that are in your face and full of angst ridden insubordination. The sound is aggressive it's fast and it's furious.
On the flip side the melodies are strong, the harmonies are wonderfully resonant and the guitar solos are executed with passion and at times velvet tones that are reminiscent to that of Slash.
A hard rock album with punk undertones, songs with catchy hooks that make them instantly likable you can't help but sing along.
To sum up this is good debut with some fine tunes and impressive fretboard work from Sam Garner the guitarist, well worth a listen
